  • Q:

MCI Digital Systems: The FAQs below relate to questions about our digital systems

    A:

  • Q:

Why can’t I get my LMS to do this?

    A:

Most current LMS are designed for a completely different learning model. The cost and effort of adapting your current LMS can be a substantial IT project. IT projects have a well-earned reputation for going over budget and over time.

Even if you think that your LMS can do these functions why not pilot them on one of MCI’s Digital Platforms with the help of MCI’s Digital Learning Specialists? Try them out to see how well they deliver for you and your employees, and then decide if it is worth the cost of implementing it within your LMS.

  • Q:

Why should I deliver my course digitally?

    A:

Face-to-Face training will always have a place in your training program, but there is no doubt that well-designed digital content can deliver exceptional value for money.

Modern learners want to be in control of their learning experience. They want engaging, self-paced learning, blended learning and platforms that are social, competitive and accessible anywhere at any time.

  • Q:

    Why is mobile so important?

    A:

In Australia there are more mobile phones than people.
More internet browsing is done with mobile devices than desktops.
The quantity of data downloaded with mobile devices is doubling every year.

Mobile is not only important now, it is growing in importance every year. Training systems that that do not deliver a good experience on mobile devices create a poor learning environment.

Only Apps designed specifically for mobile devices can deliver training content that allows the user to focus on learning, not on the delivery mechanism.

  • Q:

Is “Software as a Service” a good option?

    A:

“The Cloud” is a phenomenon and is now often the best option for delivering full featured, specialist systems into a business context. Cloud services, often called “software as a service” or SaaS have many advantages:
    - Can be setup quickly, often as quickly as purchasing a subscription.
    - Can often be branded with company logos and colours.
    - Do not require IT departments to install hardware or software.
    - New features are implemented automatically.
    - Accessible from anywhere with an internet connection.

  • Q:

We have an LMS, what is different?

    A:

Learning Management Systems have been around for a long time. Originally they were designed to manage a course catalogue and deliver text based learning content. Over time they have been updated. New features have been added as they become popular. Software that tries to do everything sometimes does some things well and others not so well.

The main differences between the MCI learning platforms and a standard LMS are:
    - Built to deliver new, evidence based, learning models.
    - Designed to do few things exceptionally well, instead of a bit of everything.
    - Created with new technologies for performance and security.
    - Engineered for the cloud and for mobile.

  • Q:

    Are the digital platforms secure?

    A:

This is an important question to ask about cloud services. MCI understands this and we are committed to finding products that have excellent security credentials.

  • Q:

I have course content already, can I use that?

    A:

Your existing content is an excellent starting place for digital delivery. MCI Content Specialists and Course Designers will use your existing content and using science based methods, create digital courses that have real impact on your performance.

  • Q:

Can I create my own course content into the systems?

    A:

We recommend getting the initial courses developed by our experts. We can then train you to build your courses and support you as you need it.

  • Q:

Can I transfer subscriptions from one employee to another?

    A:

Yes. This is an important feature of all the systems we choose to deliver digital content. As your employees change, as their needs change, you can re-distribute the subscriptions.

  • Q:

Can I brand it with my company brand?

    A:

Yes. Part of the setup process is updating the digital platforms to reflect your branding. This is particularly important with the on-boarding and induction platform, ensuring that your new hires are immersed in your brand from the start of their engagement with you.

  • Q:

What if I have a problem with the Digital Platforms?

    A:

MCI will provide support for your Digital Platforms and always feel free to contact us if you
