Smart and Skilled

Helping to put education within your reach

Smart and Skilled is a reform of the NSW Vocational Education and Training system.

It's helping people in NSW get the skills they need to find a job and advance their careers.

Smart and Skilled provides eligible students with: a) An entitlement to government-subsidised training up to and including Certificate III and, B) government funding for higher-level courses (Certificate IV and above) in targeted priority areas.

Management Consultancy International (MCI Solutions) is an approved provider of NSW Smart and Skilled subsidised courses across most regions of NSW, including the greater Sydney Metro region. With Smart and Skilled, you have more choice when selecting courses.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to check your eligibility for Smart and Skilled funding, answer the following questions:

Are you?

1. 15 years old or over?

2. No longer at school?

3. Living or working in NSW?

4. An Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen?

If you answered ‘yes’ to all four questions, than you’re eligible to enrol in a government-subsidised course with MCI Solutions as we are an approved Smart and Skilled training provider.

For individuals and corporates

Providing you meet the personal eligibility criteria for Smart and Skilled, you’re entitled to enrol in a subsidised course up to Certificate III level. You can also enrol in subsidised training in targeted priority areas at Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma level, depending on the availability of funding for these courses. NSW apprentices and most new-entrant trainees are eligible for a government subsidy for the training that supports their apprenticeship or traineeship. Previous qualifications do not affect eligibility, but may affect the student fee.

For corporates: Skill Sets

MCI Solutions is also able to offer targeted training in the form of Skill Sets to organisations in public, private and NFP sectors. Skill sets are not qualifications. The Training Package Development Handbook defines Skill Sets as ‘single units of competency, or combinations of units of competency from an endorsed training package, which link to a licence or regulatory requirement, or defined industry need’. Skill Sets identified and developed within training packages are formally recognised on a statement of attainment. Where MCI Solutions packages a group of units into a Skill Set, a statement of attainment is awarded on successful completion of one or more of those units. *Eligibility criteria applies.
