In a statement by Deloitte, 90 percent of Australian small businesses are not reaching their digital potential.
Google is a juggernaut, so if they are doing something it must be the next big thing and any savvy business should take note.
Google Australia has launched The Digital Garage, a new free training platform designed to assist small businesses with website creation, online marketing, social media, e-commerce and more.
The head of Google Marketing Solutions Australia John Ball described The Digital Garage as a "training platform from Google to help anyone increase their knowledge of all things digital, from website creation and online marketing, to social media, e-commerce and beyond”.
"Digitally engaged small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are 1.5 times more likely to be growing revenue, seven times more likely to be exporting, eight times more likely to be creating jobs and 14 times more likely to be innovating, than those businesses with low levels of digital engagement." The Digital Garage, which will be delivered as “bite-size” videos, features 90 training modules covering the aforementioned topics. The Digital Garage will allow business owners to set their own goals as workers undertake the course. Those who complete the course will receive a certificate from Google, supported by IAB Australia.
Ball based his statements on research by Deloitte that showed a lack of digital skills is preventing Australian businesses from making the most of the online sphere.
